When you are 9 you can start to enter yourself for Open Meets. In order to do this you must be a Category 2 swimmer. If you are unsure please email us.
You need to bear in mind the same things as for your first gala except ..... Open Meets are often a very long day - warm up can start at 8am and you might not finish until 7pm. Give yourself plenty of time to get to the pool and park.
You will need to take:
- plenty of healthy snacks and possibly lunch too
- lots of drinks (water and/or energy drinks)
- take a CABSC T shirt or tracksuit for in between races (to keep muscles warm)
- take a spare (or two) swimsuits, and at least two towels
Make sure your parents have plenty to keep them occupied and fed too! Experienced parents often take a cool bag filled with plenty of food and drink, and some even take a cushion to make the uncomfortable seats more friendly.
