Water Polo

Water Polo is a fast and energetic sport which is available to all members of CABSC. With the competent coaches and friendly environment, you may be surprised how good you get.

Why not give it a try? Training sessions are as follows:

Mondays 9.15 – 10pm Senior squad
Thursdays 7 – 8pm Juniors, beginners and senior squad

Coaches

Dr. Chris Freebury MIOS (WP)

Chris is a former international player and now an active international water polo referee on both the LEN and FINA lists. He has been playing water polo for the past 45 years and has coached for over 30 years. Chris has coaching qualifications from the ASA – MIOS (WP) and from FINA, and is also a Water Polo Delegate for the ASA. He is currently in charge of referee recruitment and development for the ASA and was previously their referee co-ordinator (and that of the National Water Polo League) for 15 years. He is also a qualified Weightlifting coach, the Chairman of England Weightlifting and an Executive Director of British Weightlifting.

Joanne Freebury AIOS (WP)
Jo coaches the younger children and is a qualified Assistant Coach, referee, and National Grade Table Official. Her junior teams have won many accolades in the Nottinghamshire League Junior tournaments in recent years. Jo is a schoolteacher who specialises in reception year teaching.

Chris Freebury jnr
Chris has been playing water polo since the age of 6. He is a sports science graduate from Loughborough University, a Level 1 Water Polo Coach and a qualified Grade C referee. He attended the FINA International Water Polo Referee School held in Manchester in 2009. Chris is also a qualified weightlifting coach Level 1, an International Weightlifter (British Champion, English Champion and U23 Champion) and was placed fourth in his class at the Commonwealth Games in 2010.
